Big Muddy is located in the greater St. Louis, Missouri metropolitan area. We are a group of people interested in historical gaming of all types (miniature table top, board and computer). We are dedicated to bringing gamers of all ages and gaming interests together. And although our focus is on historical gaming, we welcome gamers of all genres, including science fiction, fantasy and role playing games.

Description: In the early morning hours of September 1, 1939, the Germans launched an all out assault on the Polish military garrison at Westerplatte. This attack was not unexpected. The Poles has been fortifying the peninsula in preparation for what they believed would be inevitable hostilities. The Germans believed that the garrison would fall quickly, the Poles held out for seven days! Come fight the opening battle against the primary defensive position, Wartownia nr.1, at the foot of the peninsula.

Description: The New Anglican Confederation has blindsided the Imperial Nippon Empire by launching a successful invasion of the planet Solomon located in the Savo Nebula. Loss of this planet will seriously impact the Empire's ability to support the many offensive missions now being prosecuted in the sector. The Imperial command ordered an immediate counterattack to disrupt the invasion. A hastily gathered fleet is now approaching the planet which is inside a nebula of solar gasses which will interfere with our ability to locate and engage the enemy. The commodore of the fleet sends out the order to attack!

Description: The Battle of Lissa (sometimes called the Battle of Vis; French: Bataille de Lissa; Italian: Battaglia di Lissa; Croatian: Viška bitka) was a naval action fought between a British frigate squadron and a larger squadron of French and Italian frigates and smaller ships on 13 March 1811 during the Adriatic campaign of the Napoleonic Wars. The engagement was fought in the Adriatic Sea for possession of the strategically important island of Lissa (also known as Vis), from which the British squadron had been disrupting French shipping in the Adriatic. The French needed to control the Adriatic to supply a growing army in the Illyrian Provinces, and consequently dispatched an invasion force in March 1811 consisting of six frigates, numerous smaller craft and a battalion of Italian soldiers.

The battle line, on either side of the Strait, were arrayed with several lines of destroyers and PT boats. Admiral Shoji Nishimura Southern pincer force, centered on the Fuso and Yamashiro Battleships steaming with 16 other war ships during the night through the Surigao Strait towards the Leyte beaches. For each American Commander your mission will be to outscore the other 5 Battleship groups.

Description: Early January 1862, Texans were itchin for a fight and the greater Confederacy had not called for the Texans to rally in Arkansas or across the Mississippi as yet. General Sibley conceived a plan to take New Mexico with the vision of going all the way to Colorado to obtain the rich gold field there for the Rebels. The entire mounted army moved quickly into the heart of New Mexico to capture Fort Craig, but the US force there was determined not to let that happen. When General Sibley arrived at Fort Craig to find it well defended, he developed a plan to ride north and cut-off the Yanks from their supply. As a Reb, you will attempt to push thru the "lightly" defended Rio Grands River Yank defensive line and gain the Yankee back door. The Yanks have their defense "almost" in place with the famous Kit Carson on the battlefied with a regiment of New Mexicans. The Yankee commander (General Canby) is confident he can whip these Johnny Rebs with his Regulars... will YOU be able to?

Table #1/ Event: THE LAST TORPEDO

Description: UN attempts to cross the Han River to push back elements of the North Korean Army have been stymied by the North Koreans releasing water from the Hwachon Dam reservoir located upstream. Ground attacks by UN forces to seize the dam have been repulsed. Now, air attacks have been ordered to break the dam and prevent the flooding of the river. When numerous air strikes fail to break the dam, the air commander of VA 195 aboard the USS Princeton puts forward the innovative idea of using torpedoes to strike at the steel overflow gates. The squadron breaks out the long stored WW II torpedoes and load them onto AD-4 Skyraiders as the few WW II veteran torpedo aircraft pilots quickly teach the newer members how to deploy a torpedo from an aircraft. On May 1, 1951, the torpedo attack against the Hwachon Dam is launched.

Description: Game length is 2 hours and the game will repeat mid-session. New players will have priority at mid-session but if slots are open you’re welcome to stay for both sessions. Join Oddball and his tankers as they rip through a German rail yard. While the scene from Kelly’s Heroes is a bit one-sided (to say the least) throw in some random events (like a Panzerfaust or some armor ‘passing by’, and the action is more than reckless. This is meant to be a bit ‘tongue-in-cheek’ so if you’re looking for historical accuracy (?) go elsewhere. If you’re looking for something a bit fun then stop by. Get to the bridge, get to the town, get the gold. First, you have to get out of the rail yard.

Description: The collapse of Army Group Center left Army Group North stranded in the Baltic States. As Army Group North withdrew into an enclave on the Courland peninsula, Russian spearheads attempted to the split the Germans and defeat them in detail. The worst crisis came when the 2nd Baltic Front smashed the German 10th Corps at Madona jeopardizing the German evacuation from Estonia and Latvia.
